I am Kimberly Weyker

a family member of someone living with ALS,
a friend of someone living with ALS,
caring for someone living with ALS

Wisconsin

Andy is participating in a Healey Clinical Trial for a new ALS medication; in his words, “Even if it doesn’t help me, it could help find a cure so others can survive ALS ten years from now.”

My sweet, 6’7” husband of 35 years, Andy (58), was diagnosed one year ago after experiencing left leg weakness and multiple falls the year leading up to his ALS diagnosis.

We are grateful for the prayers of family and friends and the awesome care he receives at the VA. Andy is a 30 year US Army and Army Reserve Veteran, and because ALS is considered a 100% service related disability, we have received many VA benefits. We recently completed renovations in our home – transforming our formal living and dining rooms into 1st floor master bedroom and ADA bathroom. Now I can take care of him until he goes home to Jesus’ arms.

We try to live each day to the fullest – a Caribbean cruise, a trip to visit friends in Florida, pontoon boating and fishing on Lake Winnebago, going to Brewers and Green Bay Packer games, enjoying our family and friends – plus sharing time with our two beautiful granddaughters. Andy was able to borrow a track chair to go bow hunting last month!

We also have a friend/former neighbor in town with an ALS diagnosis. Coincidence…?

Let’s find a cure together!!
