I am Paul Mohl

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS,
living with ALS

I am 77 years old, a retired academic physician. When I was in medical school of all the horrible diseases I most feared was ALS. 4 years ago my nephew was diagnosed with it. He died a couple of years later.

A year and a half after that I began noticing very mild, undetectable by others except my wife, speech difficulty. A few months later … weakness in my fingers. So I suspected what it was long before I finally saw my internist and two neurologists and received a formal diagnosis.
