Someone who cared for a person we've lost to ALS

Virginia

On 01/13/2017 my husband was told “You have ALS and 3-5 years to lIve” Some days will stay etched in your mind forever. We had just celebrated our 4th anniversary. We went for a second opinion at another medical institution and he was told he didn’t have it. We thought were were lucky and had dodged the monster. It gave him the courage to live life and travel while he could. In 2020 at the onset of Covid , his mobility declined quick. Fortunately I was home teleworking and got to spend more time with him. May of 2020 he became bedridden and after a telemedicine appoint with the institution that originally made the diagnosis, it as confirmed again he had ALS. Hospice started a week later. I was the primary caregiver 24/7 with very little help because of COVID. Even tougher was I had no support from his family. 07/08/2020 he took is last breath. We were together 7.5 years. Yes our time was short, but God put me in his life to take care of him because he knew I could handle caring for him.
