I AM ALS is delighted to welcome attorney and ALS advocate Chuck Smith to our Board of Directors. Chuck’s involvement with I AM ALS began when his former colleague at Skadden, [founder] Brian Wallach, slipped a short presentation across the table on the day he told Chuck he had been diagnosed with ALS.
“We’re thrilled that Chuck has joined our leadership,” said Andrea Goodman, CEO of I AM ALS. “Chuck brings years of experience on nonprofit boards and a strong commitment to ending ALS. We are excited to expand our Board of Directors to guide this critical next chapter as I AM ALS develops a new strategic plan and policy agenda to protect and advance our progress.”
Chuck Smith is a retired attorney who now practices as a mediator and arbitrator. In addition to I AM ALS, he currently sits on the executive committee of the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. His honors include awards from Chicago Appleseed, the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, and the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation.
