I am Mike Tamburino

someone we've lost to ALS

Connecticut

Through this award, I was able to spread ALS awareness. This is all because of the love of this fantastic game.

**Mike passed away on March 7, 2022. Below is his story in his own words.**

I was diagnosed in December 2016. I was a baseball coach and umpire for over 20 years. Mostly umpiring baseball players between the ages of 9-19. After my sons were done playing I wanted to be at the game that I loved. Over 20 years you become friends with a lot of great baseball people in my town and state (Bethel, CT).

In Connecticut, the Babe Ruth baseball is divided up into districts. District 4 is my area. In 2015 District for Commissioner Craig Carlson handed out lifetime achievement awards to people who made a difference. In 2018, Craig to my surprise renamed his lifetime achievement award to the Michael Tamburino lifetime achievement award. As you can imagine I was truly humbled and honored at the same time. Through this award, I was able to spread ALS awareness. This is all because of the love of this fantastic game.
